Amazon Ember is better than Adwaita Sans
I like the Inter typeface. It's available on Google Fonts, and it generally looks fine and elegant (macOS-like), but not always. Especially not on Linux. And I don't include Firefox for Linux here, because Firefox uses its own renderer that's superior to libfreetype6.
This note you are just reading is rendered in Inter.
When, after 15 years of Cantarell, GNOME changed the default font to Adwaita Sans, a clone of Inter with supposedly improved screen rendering, I rejoiced.
OK, fonts-adwaita isn't available in Debian 13, but you can install it in Debian forky/sid. Or just grab fonts-adwaita-sans_51.0+dfsg-1_all.deb.
But it looks like Adwaita Sans still has severe design issues, and I'll stick to Amazon Ember as the default font in XFCE:
