The Telegraph, today: Dozens of Palestine Action protesters arrested outside US embassy:
Dozens of Palestine Action protesters have been arrested as hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the US embassy in London.
Activists held up signs reading “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action” while sitting outside the embassy building in Vauxhall, south London.
Expressing support for Palestine Action is an offence in the UK as the group was proscribed in June 2025.
Met Police officers were quick to move in and began making arrests, with footage showing protesters being carried towards waiting vans, including an elderly woman who was lifted off the ground by four uniformed officers.
By 6.14pm 139 people had been arrested.
Charles Allison, a retired lawyer who travelled almost 300 miles from his home in Cumbria to attend the protest, said he was demonstrating because he “feared for our liberties”.
The 75-year-old said: “I decided that I ought to try and do something, and this is the little bit that I’m doing. I fear for our civil liberties, which are being devalued and watered down, even by this new Labour Government.
“I’m dejected, but enthused that there are so many wonderful people protesting.”
Mr Allison was taken away by two police officers just before 1pm, after he was told that he posed a “threat”.
Martin Abrams, Lambeth council’s first Green leader, said he was “deeply concerned to see local police resources deployed and used in operations like this”.
He added: “The proscription of Palestine Action and the resulting police resources needed to arrest peaceful protesters simply does not make our communities safe.”
Defend Our Juries, which organised the protest, said its demonstration was being staged ahead of a Supreme Court hearing next week on the Palestine Action ban.
Scotland Yard said Palestine Action-related protests “take significant police resources away from the neighbourhoods and communities where they are most needed”.
Well, it’s the fucking government that takes away significant police resources from where they are needed, just to lick Netanyahu’s arse!
