Dario Amodei keeps being a tard
Probably in reaction to the last wave of “AI will kill us by 2030,” Dario Amodei wrote a very confusing blog post vaguely dated “September”: We Must Pace the Frontier.
Complete nonsense.
Sure, “AI could dramatically raise the quality of human life.” It could, would, or should “create a world of abundance and empowerment, and usher in a renaissance of democracy and freedom.” And, cancer, cancer, and cancer again. It will cure everything.
But it might kill us.
This reminds me of George Carlin’s famous rant about God and religion:
Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day.
And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money!
Back to Dario Anthropicus: his plea to mitigate the risks of AI development is literally confusing and poorly structured. Politicians would understand exactly un cazzo from it. OK, here’s something in bold that’s easy to understand:
We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models. Progress will still seem fast, and we must make wise use of the time we gain.
And here’s an imbecile way of saying “China”:
Global Coordination. The US and other democratic governments attempt to coordinate with authoritarian governments, to the extent this is possible, while taking seriously the challenges of verifying compliance.
Go fuck yourself, Dario! Learn to write a well-structured essay first.
