What could possibly go wrong when the power button is placed directly next to the ENTER key?
Also, since the button is in the middle of the laptop's side, when you grab the laptop with both hands to move it a little, guess which button you end up pressing without meaning to?
After accidentally putting my laptop into hibernation about six times, I configured XFCE so that when I press the button, it asks me what to do. In other words, it doesn't do anything until I choose what to do. I usually press the ESC key.
That's because the idiots out there (ASUS does the same thing) no longer bother to put the power button where it's supposed to be:
On its budget models (Aspire 3), Acer now has it built into the keyboard. Again, just so you can press it by accident:
