Quick Luddite Notes

🎸 The kids from The Graystones are doing pretty well (knock on wood)

The Graystones, a classic rock and pop cover band based in the San Francisco Bay Area and consisting of kids aged 12 to 13 (I’m not sure of everyone’s current age), had a rather tumultuous journey that I tried to cover through comments on my blog’s one and only post about them.

At some point, some parents’ hubris led to a “betrayal” that removed the two vocalists (Hope, Izzy) and a couple of other members (Max, Ishaan, Kyle) from the band, which formed a new band, The Turnarounds, joined by a new member, Isaac.

The Graystones had to reinvent themselves, and they did it! I’m not sure who remained from the original formula, other than Grayson (drums) and Harin (keys).

The new formula first added Grey (bass)—actually Greyson, but shortened because of the name clash with Grayson—and Summer (electric guitar), then it strongly benefited from the joining of the band by Evan Riley (vocals and acoustic guitar) and Jake (acoustic and electric guitar). Jake is from England!

In the new formula, they posted Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain on Feb. 27, then Separate Ways by Journey on March 20; both were performed on Jan. 25, but in different sessions. 6 more “sock sessions” and live performances followed.

But miracles exist, and Izzy returned to The Graystones! 😮🎉

In the new-and-old formula, as of writing, there are 3 new videos:

I’m looking forward to their future performances. 👏
